I travel and have been to so many mediocre coffee shops and the quality here does not compare to so many regular shops. I love the different options you have for coffee: French Press, Chemex, Pour over, and Yama (cold brew). All coffee roasted in house. I didn't even try the espresso drinks but I had an Ethopian Chemex in the morning and a Yama in the afternoon and both were outstanding. If you are a coffee snob and the regular places aren't cutting it, go here.

I stopped by here midweek to caffeine-up for a 1300 mile drive. The place is spacious, but warm and inviting at the same time. I was the first customer of the day at 7am, and the barista was incredibly welcoming. I drink a lot of cappuccinos, and I'd put the capp at Bean Cycle at a solid second-tier (e.g. not amazing, but WAY better than Starbucks). The process was sound, but the result was a little sour. Totally could have been that the grind wasn't dialed in so early in the day, so I'll definitely give it another try if I ever again find myself in Fort Collins.

When I came in during the rainy Friday afternoon I was greeted with a pleasant smile. I was decided to go with something more traditional. I wanted to try something that maybe was their specialty but I only feel it is fair to judge a coffee shop on how they handle basic drinks, so I ordered a Cortado. The foam was right where it needed to be at about 1oz. The cup with a nice little design with a handle. (I'm used to handless cups so it was nice to have that haha.) They have orange walls and the cup was orange on the handle and saucer. (Just kind of a cool feature that ties the aesthetics of a shop together.) There also is a charitable bookstore at the back of the shop with two levels. The first sip was nice and hot. I let it cool a little to get best flavor and continued to drink. As I had more I noticed some of the subtle flavor of the roast. It was quite strong and a little darker than I prefer but by no means bad. I think this part comes down to a preference. 4/5 Stars for aesthetic and overall good experience. Next time: I would try a specialty drink, find out what they're best at. Try something new.

Walked by the bean cycle a few times while in old town. Finally went in. Relaxing coffee shop in old town, with friendly baristas. It was afternoon and I needed a jolt. I got what I asked for. I ordered the cuban coffee, which had plenty of caffeine. I am usually a daily green tea drinker and I occasionally have coffee or lattes. I tossed and turned all night that night. Anyway, great coffee shop. Love the latte art. I cruised the used book section while waiting. Interesting selection. Check it out!

"Meh! I've [definitely] experienced better!" Hot water with a hint of spice is what you should expect for a chai latte. The regular latte was also extremely disappointing - was there anything in this cup besides moderately warm milk? Not to mention that these two drinks took 15 minutes to prepare (with no other customers in sight) and it all came with a huge side of attitude.

  • Kevin M.

Great coffee with no pretentiousness in the atmosphere, well maybe the customers but who cares. Check out the bookstore in the back for your next favorite novel. Try the Kerouac for a heck of a buzz and don't forget to tip!

I visited this quirky little coffee shop several months ago. I ordered a chai latte which was unfortunately very disappointing. It was like spiced water. I added some sugar to make it drinkable. However, my sister enjoyed her coffee. The ambiance is cool and it was a nice place to hang out on a cold windy day, but I was not impressed with my beverage.

This place is definitely closed. If you don't believe me, just try calling them during any business hours. I promise nobody will ever pick up

Awesome organic place. Try their cold drip - chocolately. Great place for Ft. Collins that supports fair trade, organic and local coffee. Just having returned from Seattle, it felt a notch below the Cafes in Seattle but for Front Range, this is a place I want to continue to patronize - local, down home, so upping ranking to 5 stars. May want to upgrade the furniture to optimize seating like some of the cafes in Seattle. This place is on the cutting edge of coffee making - many techniques, etc. They are patient and explain to me the options and methods.

I recently visited Fort Collins for the first time since moving to Colorado, and was told I needed to check out this coffee shop in Old Town. The space is super charming, with an open air feel, plenty of seating, and an awesome used bookstore in the back. The baristas were friendly and my coffee was expertly made. I had a chance to peruse the books while I was there and ended up walking away with two practically new hardbacks for a steal. This place does laid back local perfectly. Can't wait to return during my next trip up!

Best late in the city. Tender care is taken in preparation of your coffee. It indeed is a joy to stop in early to start my day this way

  • Cathetine H.

Great basic cafe with coffee and free wifiI. the cute bookstore attached is a plus! Service was somewhat slow, but I wouldn't complain. Overall great basic coffee shop to get some work done at.

I could spend all day and everyday at Bean Cycle. I love the atmosphere, the rotating local art and the friendly staff. Oh did I mention the coffee!! Its so awesome to have a place that truly and passionately cares about their products. My husband and I will gladly wait the extra 10 minutes for our Barista to pour a good espresso shot. They don't settle for mediocrity, and want to provide the best.. and they do!!

    (5)
  • Caitlin C.

Props to this place for supporting organic fairly treated coffee and for being connected to a nice little book store. I really love the atmosphere here and the upstairs seating is a great place to perch and get some work done. The broista working here was friendly enough, however the chai latte he served me was cold, bitter and weak like a mean old grandma. The scone I shared was also lackluster. I can't give the place too many demerits because the coffee is not bad but tonight was a disappointment.

I love #beancycle - this combo coffee shop/printer/bookstore! Second time here on my second visit to Fort Collins, and it's still a lovely place - the coffee is well-made, the pastries are good, there's plenty of seating on funky couches or at tables and chairs; what else? Oh, yes! The bookstore has a small but great collection of new and used books to peruse and purchase. This family-owned business touches my heart - they compost, they buy local from area farmers, and support other local businesses as well! If I lived in Fort Collins (I wish!) this would be my spot...

Good coffee, great relaxing atmosphere..reminded me of little coffee shops in S.Korea.

Bean Cycle gets my "Best Business in FoCo" award. Purveyors of poetry, promulgators of peace, proprietors of prose, and pretty f*cking awesome. I don't think there is much in this world that is not-for-profit that I can complain about. They serve fair-tade coffee and they make it more delicious than 99% of other coffee shops' coffee. Stuck you Farbucks!! Poetry Slam first Friday of every month. Good times.

  • John G.

I feel very fortunate to live near The Bean Cycle. They have the best espresso in town (and that's a huge distinction b/c FoCo has lot of good coffee shops) and great specialty drinks (my favorite is the Brooklyn Woodrow). The service, ambience, and location are great. Great for low-key socializing, studying, or working. And there is plenty of interesting reading material because there is a bookstore in back. The Bean Cycle/Wolverine Farm Publishing are also good stewards of the community, contributing to and hosting various cultural and nonprofit events. Just a bonus....

  • Victoria C.

No attitude, good coffee, a bookstore to peruse, and plenty of seating. I love the building and the street it's on. It's big without feeling corporate. I am guilty of sitting here for too long, but I don't feel guilty about it!

    (5)
  • Jennifer S.

The Bean Cycle is super cute, and the space is much bigger than you'd think from just looking at it off College Ave. Though I like the interior with its quaint decorations, I think they could benefit in more seating and better outdoor seating (currently, it's just one long wooden bench right out the storefront). I've only had their iced mocha, and it was decent. I'll be back to try some other drinks.

    (4)
  • Ellen L.

I think they're known for their coffee, but I'm basing my review on just their chai tea, which we found to be quite bland. There wasn't much taste, except maybe over watered milk. We did like the book display with the recommendations for good reads.

  • Joe J.

My girlfriend and I stumbled across this coffee shop in old town today (5/21) and it is by far one of the coolest coffee shops in Fort Collins. She ordered a "b.c. chai" and said it was very good. We talked to the owner for a couple minutes and he seemed to be an extremely friendly guy. The place is huge! Great ambiance to read a book, study, or relax with friends. I will definitely be back to try the coffee and check out the books (several) they have on their shelves.

    (5)
  • Heather T.

This is my favorite coffee shop in town. I love the combination of book store with coffee. It's such an obvious marriage of perfection. The whole store has a homey, local vibe that I just love. It had been a little while since I've been in and they didn't have the extensive chalkboard drink menu anymore. I wasn't sure if they had simplified on the visual or the menu itself so I asked about the Mexican mocha. The barista told me that was an easy drink to make and he could do it. I'm still not sure if it's an off the menu item but I hope not! The chocolate with orange with real cinnamon stick is scrumptious. And to make this experience a little more fun there was a small craft show inside the coffee shop. I did a little local shopping and drank a fabulous coffee!

  • Neesha F.

I want to be part of the Bean Cycle Cult! I am a pure believer in the Kerouac and its ability to make you feel like you can fly! (Not literal, but ridiculously close). I should probably be checking into rehab for my addiction to Kero-crack as I call it, but instead I will keep feeding my habit at Bean Cycle!

  • Janelle S.

This place rocks. First, being a coffee shop, I guess it's important to note that the coffee here is really good. I'm no coffee aficionado, but the house brew was pleasant. Not burnt tasting, not too strong. Just really good. But the reason this place gets my five stars is the ambiance. Awesome. Comfortable. Lounge'y. Laid back. Welcoming. Warm. Shall I continue? It's in an old building with high tin ceilings and lots of space. Personally, I hate cramped tiny coffee shops where you feel just breathing is invading your neighbor's space. Not here! Spread out. Enjoy. Lots of various seating from tables/chairs to couches that envelope you. Plenty of electrical outlets for our myriad electronics. A whole book store where you can browse and even sit and read for a bit.

    (5)
  • Amy O.

oh man, what a gem! I love their seating arrangements - you can have natural light if you sit by the front window or tuck yourself in the back, upstairs in between shelves of books. Or, sit in the middle where there are still outlets available for your computer. Aside from the tea that I was OBSESSED with (i mixed the Echinacea and the chamomile lavender, and added freshly juiced ginger- I could not have done this without the help of Abigail!) I found myself admiring their menu boards for quite some time. I highly recommend this spot for anyone who needs a coffee, tea, or place to get some work done! So cozy and awesome.

    (5)
  • Louis R.

The best espresso in town. They are using their blend. And you can actually buy some whole bean blend.

    (5)
  • Laura B.

Excellent pour overs and bean choices. Cool book store incorporated. I could have spent a good portion of the day there drinking brew and reading.

    (5)
  • Jenni K.

Mmmm I love coffee. It looks the baristas here know their stuff and definitely don't rush you on your order. In fact, be prepared to wait a few minutes because they make each order right away. The actual location has a huge sectional, which I've never seen in a coffee shop. It feels like you are studying in a library with the huge collection of books in the back. The open space is great, definitely isn't a cramped coffee shop. The actual coffee? I had an iced coffee which was amazing. Robust, not burnt tasting. If you like rich, strong coffee, this is the place for you. If you like a bit of sweetness, my husband's mocha was super chocolatey, so I imagine their espresso is great as well.

    (5)
  • Michael B.

This place has great coffee, and is always filled with people chatting, studying, reading, or just staring into space. That adds a nice warm social vibe, but can sometimes mean it's a bit crowded as the furniture tends to be jammed into a smaller area than it really needs. Some other things of note about the Bean Cycle: There's usually art on the wall for sale (but of course it's Fort Collins local art, which tends to be hundreds of dollars even if a dog painted it). There's a little bookstore at the back where you can browse, read, and buy physical books - juxtaposed with the sea of macbooks and kindles at the front of house. Beans are roasted fresh; there's always something good on the counter to try as a result.

    (4)
  • Ben S.

This place is a good coffee shop, though quite expensive. I would give this place 4 stars if it wasn't so expensive. Besides that though this place is great! It is connected to a book store, which is super rad, and the drinks are all very tasty! Another cool thing is the fact that they sell a lot of the supplies for coffee making, like the Chemex, which they also use to make coffee, though again, it is much more expensive if you do. The internet works well here, so that is a plus! Anyways, I would much rather go here than the huge chains, such as the green mermaid... It's way better!

    (3)
  • Leah B.

Delicious coffee & great atmosphere. Lots of seating and they have a bookstore in the back. Great place!

  • Raul H.

Good coffee and tons of books to chose from. Love the huge sofas too, you can almost sleep there.

I've been to The Bean Cycle three times now. The pour over coffee here is fantastic. They roast in house, and have really delicious, vibrant coffees. I've tried Ethiopian, Guatemalan, and Brazilian roasts - all tasted just as described, and then some. They take their various brew methods very seriously - a scale is used to measure out coffee/water ratios through each step of the process - and all three baristas that served me were happy to talk to me about the coffee and their methods. The sign is a bit misleading - they claim that a pour over only takes two minutes to brew - it's definitely more like 5, but well worth it. There is lots of open space for working, reading and relaxing. The have a book "store" in the back of the room. There is a free book bin in the front and the bookstore is run by volunteers as a non-profit. All of the employees I encountered were really pleasant. Delicious coffee, great space, good vibes all around.

  • Laura C.

The coffee here is really really exceptional and it is just $1 for a mug of really good French press . Which I think makes it one of the better spots in colorado BUT big pet peeve ! They wait till the coffee is completely out to brew more so if your on the go this place might disappoint. Really not sure why they don't start brewing ahead of time . It would be so easy.

  • Ran T.

We were driving through Fort Collins and decided to stop by this place for some coffee. The staff recommended a drink (unfortunately I can't recall the name) but it's a cold coffee drink with cream (they premade it in a big batch by the cashier). It was absolutely to die for. It was so rich (in a nice way) and the coffee flavor was very intense (again in a very nice way), it was like drinking vanilla coffee ice cream. I would definitely go back to this place next time I am in Fort Collins.

    (4)
  • Michelle S.

This place is great! They have all kinds of coffee and are willing to make off-menu items. I also really like the staff, who tend to be friendly and helpful. It takes a little bit to get your coffee, but that's expected because it is pretty good quality. They don't have many baked goods or food items as other places, though, so don't plan on getting a ton of those.

    (4)
  • Ryan D.

Great tasting fresh roasted coffee. What can I say the Brazilian coffee they roast brewed in a French press was simply amazing. Full flavored, subtly nuanced and highly quaffable. Service was awesome, as they suggested a few things and this was one of them. They have a modest juice bar with most things juiced to order with the exception to the apple juice but that just speeds things along as far as I'm concerned. We were there just for the coffee, maybe next time we'll try some juice. Oh, they also have a modest book store upstairs and in the back of the store. We saw signs for poetry slams and typewriting sessions, how interesting.

  • Sophia N.

I asked if I could smell the beans, and the barista laid five humongous tubs of coffee beans on the counter so that I could give each one a good sniff. My boyfriend thinks I'm unreasonable, but I sure didn't hear him complaining about the coffee selection. We got it in a French Press and it was perfect. I love the big open space, and the couches. I didn't sit in one when I went, but they look comfy, and I will definitely be back to check them out. Review on the couch cushions to follow.

If you guys know me, you know that I like my coffee. This is short review.... These guys know their craft. Nice space, not rushed, very local.

  • Melanie L.

One of my favorite coffee shops with a bookstore to boot. They are expert coffee crafters and will guide you to exactly what you're looking for. They offer many different roasts which are all roasted in house and a variety of brewing styles.

  • Brianna M.

The Bean Cycle is truly a Fort Collins staple. The culture in Fort Collins revolves around bikes, beer and coffee. And The Bean Cycle has two of the three. I have stopped in several times and am always pleased with their coffee. They offer drip coffee, french press, espressos, tea, fresh juice, and smoothies. As if it is not enough to get a good brew at a local shop, it is also nice to know that The Bean Cycle is ecologically and socially conscious. They purchase Fair Trade coffee, roast their own beans, compost their waste, and support local businesses. That's a sweet deal if you ask me!

  • Anna M.

Stopped by here a couple of times while visiting Fort Collins last week, and loved the place. Great coffee, vegan Scout cookies (don't eat these just before lunchtime!), plenty of seating, and a cosy bookshop at the back. Only downside was that they'd run out of the vegan cookies on Sunday at 1pm, but I guess that's my fault for not going in earlier. It's pretty hipster, but there was no objection to my 11 month old cruising her way along the coffee table (though wouldn't recommend bringing your kid here if they're likely to yell the place down. Because that would be impolite.) Oh, and they were playing Sibylle Baier when I was last there. Got to love that.

Yet another scrumptious coffee shop in Oldtown Fort Collins! This coffee shop is housed in the same spot as Matter Bookstore. This coffee shop is about in the middle as far as traffic goes. It was fairly quiet but there were people coming and going, but not like some of the other coffee shops in town where it is swamped and you have to sit outside once you are served! I ordered a Mexican Mocha which was wonderful! It had a nice chocolaty kick to it which I adored! At the bottom of my mug was a little piece of a cinnamon stick, clearly responsible for me having such a good time with my drink. I had a chocolate chip cookie which was huge and I couldn't finish it all but it sure was great for a later snack! There are so many coffee shops in Fort Collins it is kind of mind boggling once you sit down and think about it. The Bean Cycle is one that is worthy of many return visits!

  • K- K.

Love everything about the Bean Cycle!! The staff are friendly, the books are great and the food and drinks are delicious. When I spent a week in Colorado, I came here almost every day. The only reason why I didn't give all 5 stars was that the prices jump very high. Granted I don't work there, I've never been a barista, so I'd like to think there's a good reason for a $6 smoothie.

    (4)
  • Sanne B.

Great coffee - not perfect, but pretty good. I have high expectations for my coffee so that's a good compliment coming from me :-) The ambience was great. Most of the people in the shop were students working on laptops. It makes the place feel alive while it's not too noisy.

  • Mei L.

Good amount of seating available. Bookstore in the back. Kerouac is a MUST TRY.

  • Ryan M.

Probably the best coffee that I've had traveling around the US. The espresso was well prepared and had a very nice, complex flavor. Absolutely amazing. Plus it was served with a shot of sparkling water. The atmosphere was amazing too. Lots of friendly people and a great selection of books.

  • Jaylon W.

I like going to this coffee shop to get my usual cappucinno and smoothie. I know that the smoothie will be healthy and organic but I could care less if my capp is healthy or oragnic cause I just want a good cappucino! I just like this place because its cozy and it seems all the ingredients are organic and fresh.

  • Jack E.

While it had a slightly more hipstery feel than I was looking for, the barista was friendly enough (maybe because she knew the person I came in with, but oh well). I didn't explore the whole space - it looks like they have an upstairs which I'd be curious to check out if I was ever back. A few couches and some bar space and chairs here and there, wifi, decent drinks. I didn't do much other than grab a mocha and hunker down to work, but it was cool. I didn't realize they closed earlier on Sundays and the girl was pretty chill about letting us know they were closing up, which is nice. I REALLY hate places that are rude about booting you at closing. I guess at the end of the day, it doesn't have exactly the "feel" I look for, but there isn't any particular reason to knock it, so 3 stars is a personal opinion more than taking anything away from what they offer. OH, and there are tons of books, and if I remember, even a free book box, which IS pretty awesome.

Good place to stop in and grab coffee and/or a snack. Seating is limited. I'm pretty sure the place is haunted.

The Elle Vanilla (a vanilla-honey latte) reminds me of Nashville and I love it. Slam poetry night is a good night to go.

On my coffeehouse tour, I was excited to come across one with a bookstore inside! I started out with the Kerouac, and I've made it my drink. This is another great place to zone out for a few hours. If you're going to be doing such, I'd suggest you ride over to avoid getting a parking ticket :P

    (4)
  • Alex L.

Excellent organic, fair trade coffee. I decided to come here based on the reviews (and free wifi) and it lived up to all my expectations! I tried a latte with almond milk and the coffee was strong and full of flavor. Plenty of comfy couches and tables to have a nice chat with a friend or get some work done (like myself) and not feel pressure about sticking around all day. The best part about this place is the attached book store. Also notable was that they recycle and compost - super earth friendly :) Would absolutely love to come back next time I'm in the Fort.

Visiting fort Collins and wasn't even craving coffee and 2pm but the ambiance and great warm smell of fresh coffee lured me into this place. Extremely charming and helpful staff who make a delicious Americano! Extremely flavorful, dark and bold coffee made so perfectly because they roast the beans themselves! Favorite coffee shop in FOCO!

Good, good coffee. Excellent ambiance. Need more variety in pastries and juices. Great place to hang.

  • Nathan M.

While I enjoy the actual location and the people, the drip coffee is pretty terrible. I bought a large coffee and a "lb" (really 10 oz.) to go ($14 total). I couldn't drink the coffee while there, and the home brewed is not much better. The coffee has a sort of slippery bitterness and sour flavor that just does not work, like cheap coffee in a can. I hope it isn't like this all the time, because it represents something wrong with the drying process of the green beans.

  • Brian G.

Probably like most people, I'm writing this while sitting in The Bean Cycle! In house coffee with free refills for a buck? Dude.... wtf, where can you even get that anymore? Free wi-fi, great ambiance, vegan baked goods. Hot damn, I'd be hangin here all the time if I lived here.

    (5)
  • Peter V.

As coffee shops go, this one is almost perfection. Delicious coffee and vegan baked goods from Watercourse Bakery in Denver. There is good Wi-Fi that is fast. Matter Bookstore is in the back and adds a great bookish feel to the place. All the staff have always been super nice. They have a smoothie on the menu called "the smoothie formerly known as Prince" It contains yogurt which is interesting since Prince is a vegan. Prince totally deserves a smoothie homage, so right on. If if comes with a beret of raspberries, my life would be complete.

Visiting family, out from California. This place is unreal. We walked from Old Town, into this place the first morning we arrived, and made it back for every morning of our visit. Love the place, book store and people. Priced well and service is fantastic.

One of my favorite coffee shops in Fort Collins. The baristas are always really nice and I love the attached bookstore. I wish it wasn't in Old Town simply because parking can be a hassle, but that really doesn't have anything to do with the quality of this awesome coffee house. Me likey:-)

You can never have too many coffee houses in a town. At least, that's what I think. Being a writer and a coffee addict, I am attracted to coffee houses like a moth to a flame. I'm also pleased that we have some pretty decent ones here in Fort Collins. I've been to many of them (often) and The Bean Cycle is no exception. When I walk in, I'm always hit with the smell of the roasting that they do in house. It's one of my favorite smells in the world. The large, openness of the shop gives it a light and airy feeling, especially with the tin-tiled ceiling. The walls are lined with art waiting to be sold, the tables filled with writers working from the free wifi, people gather for meetings in the loft and bookworms hang out in the non-profit bookstore, Matter, in the back. I love it. We had a pleasant night out eating and drinking scrumptious desserts after our dinner out. The Bean Cycle is a comfortable place to hang out, go for an after dinner treat, do some work, read some books, have a meeting or just simply get a cup of coffee and a bagel. We're lucky to have a coffee house like this in the heart of Old Town and a place this Fort Collins Food Blogger will be again.

The Bean Cycle has the best ambience of any coffee shop in Fort Collins. Also, The Kerouac. Amazing. One of the richest and most delicious coffee experiences on this earth.

  • Joe M.

Way cool atmosphere/setup, and very community/environmentally minded. Pretty good coffee, and snacks. The service setup is pretty mediocre, however. A line of five people can sometimes cause a really long wait. I've seen it happen multiple times-- all it takes is one person ordering a smoothie and it all goes pear-shaped. The staff is mostly friendly (there's one red-head that is always a little cranky) but they seem to mess-up anything outside of super basic orders. It's fine, but there are better spots nearby. EDIT: My most recent experience there was my worst. I'm not going back.

    (1)
  • Bob B.

The service has gotten so slow at this place, I rarely go there anymore. It's too bad. They need to go down the street and observe how Starbucks runs their operation for an hour or so. Starbucks is always full, yet I can usually walk out of there with with a cup of coffee within a few minutes. Not so at the Bean Cycle. There just isn't any sense of urgency there. Honestly Bean Cycle, I still love you and your coffee, but please, speed it up!

I love the peruvian! The apricot muffin is cornbread style delicious! Stopped in here for a visit while in the area for a friends wedding. Cool atmosphere/wall art and bought 3 great books in the bookstore!

Ever write a review while you're sitting in the place? That's what I'm doing and it's an odd feeling. So I'm sitting on an OK comfortable red couch eating an OK egg and cheese croissant drinking some OK coffee. The size of this place is pretty large compared to other coffee houses and there is a book store in the back. There is a steady stream of customers so this is a good place to people watch; however, there is currently a boring vibe here - hence the boring review.

I've been coming since they opened. My favorite cafe in town. Great owners and friendly, laid-back staff. The drip coffee is good (not great) and for a buck, the cheapest anywhere. Their homemade pies, from a woman in Bellvue,, are fantastic, and their pastries from The Creperie too! My favorite thing about the BC is the casual hip atmosphere, which is very much like a San Francisco cafe, as several others have mentioned. Having lived there too, I can attest to it. If you don't like all the activity below, go upstairs to relax into your good book or conversation. BC is also very local friendly and is a great asset to the community.

I really like this place. Maybe it's the bookstore, maybe it's the bike theme (I LOVE bikes!). The coffee is pretty good, and wi-fi works right on cue. Some of the tables really need some adjustments. I've seen them wobble and jettison some poor person's coffee right off the table! Still, good people watching, nice atmosphere, and solid coffee make this place a winner

Definitely not my favorite coffee shop in Fort Collins, but not a bad one either! The place is very laid back and definitely had a more relaxed pace than other places. The high ceilings were nice since it made the room feel very open. The bookstore in the back is also very neat and something that I need to check out some more. The drinks are pretty good, and the pastries all look very tasty! The tables and chairs aren't the most comfortable (the chairs were too short), though, and the layout is a little weird. So yeah, I give them 3 stars not because I don't like the Bean Cycle, it's just that I like other coffee shops better. Maybe someday they'll be a 4 star place for me. Until then, it will definitely be part of my coffee-shop rotation for studying since is still offers a different atmosphere than other places in town.

Local, friendly, and really good. They have a cute little used book store in back and upstairs. You can find a private cozy corner on a couch or sit a table and surf the web. Wonderful little place with great coffee and tea.

I love the fresh carrot juice! My kids love the vegan desserts (especially the cinnamon rolls, cookies, and chocoloate cupcake) and Morrocan Mint tea with honey. The space is great: couches, chairs, tables. My kids love to be upstairs. It's always happenin'.

My number one favorite coffee shop :) I go here to study, to grab a yummy scone, or some delicious juiced veggies! The baristas are really nice and have a great sense of humor and I really like that they focus on beverages and books...not so much with the food. However, what they do have is fantastic. I've donated a ton of books to the bookstore to help local authors. I buy my coffee for the house here too - this week I tried the beans from Colombia...WOW! This will always and forever be my favorite :)

The Bean Cycle does have good drip coffee but their espresso is not so good. The Bean Cycle is in Old Town Fort Collins and is a huge rectangular shaped coffee shop with hard wood floors, high tin ceilings with a loft area, cushy couches and plenty of tables and chairs for sitting and studying, free WIFI with plenty of available plugs for laptops, some nice plants in the front main window and a wide ranging menu. These guys have various pastries and coffee drinks that you can find at any coffee shop, however, they do roast there own coffee on site in the back of the store. Their coffee roaster use to be in the front part of their store but after a fire it was moved to the back of the place! They also make juice drinks fresh from all sorts of fruit and veggies with a huge industrial juicer that sits on there back counter. This place also is home to the Matter Book Store if you need a book to read and buy. I imagine the two joined forces and crammed themselves under one roof do to high rent prices for Old Town Ft. Collins but that's a guess. I say this because I think the coffee shop could fill the space easily with patrons but when people are buying $1.00 cups of coffee....well you get it. This place is on the cusp of being it although the dcor suffers a little. It needs a professional designers touch. You get an unsightly view of an over exposed kitchen and the paint on the walls are not visually appealing. So why do I go here if the espresso isn't that great and the place could use some paint? First, they do have good drip coffee. Second, I spend most my time in Loveland so when I go to Ft. Collins I like to be somewhere busy to get a sense of what the area is like and this place is great for people watching. It ranges from dreaded hippies to suite and ties on break and tons of college kids studying. It is a good lively environment to hang out in.

Some of the best coffee anywhere. The wifi is free and even better is the bookstore in the back. A great place to just relax with a cup.

Great coffee, great used books, internet, pastries, nice ambience, pleasant crowd. All one needs out of a coffee shop, really.

mmm raspberry and coconut italian soda while perched above on the 2nd floor reading/bookstore area. SOO cool! Huuuuge selection of granola crunchy fair-trade organic paid well when harvesting the beans coffee. Free wifi and spectacular aromas. Buy 10, get one free, free what, I forget but I did have the guy stamp some random card with the name "CHAD" in big BOLD 4th grader letters because I'm only here for the night.

Whenever I visit Fort Collins I got way out of my way to visit the Bean Cycle. Tasty coffee, pastries from three different bakeries, and a heavy bicycle theme are what I love about this place. And this place was into bikes before it was cool! The Matter bookstore in back is cool, and I believe this is where the Matter Journal is located (not positive about that). If you like bikes, coffee, and delicious baked goods, served in a locally-owned business, then check this place out.

A great coffee house. I loved the names of their drinks (all puns on books or movies). I had a smoothie once when I was there, and another time I had an iced tea -- both were great. I really liked the iced tea and wish I could have bought some to take with me. The baristas are friendly, too. The furniture is great...comfy couches and nice sized tables. I loved that they have a place to compost waste from your drinks and food, as well as a place to recycle. I loved the Matter Bookstore in the back/loft -- they have some great zines!

Love this coffee shop! The coffee is always delicious! The Matter Bookstore in the back is pretty cool too. It can get a little loud sometimes to do homework, but it isn't that bad. Parking is a pain in the afternoons, but that is like any business in Old Town. The staff is usually great and helpful. The fresh made juices are amazing!

Excellent teas and coffee and other, fancier cafe drinks (I am of the opinion that Kerouacs should have a three's enough limit, they...do things...to your mind). Really good baked goods too! The staff is wonderful and nice and knowledgable!

Bean Cycles got it going on! Good people, quality organic coffees, teas, smoothies, food...the desserts are amazing (provided by Watercourse in Denver but still soooo dang good!) Delicious stuff aside...they've got a great purpose...they encourage local, community, cycling, Matter Booktore, the 3 R's, and so on. The only downside I can possibly come up with is that you usually gotta wait a bit for your order and that's just a matter of perspective ;)

I am nothing if not a Bean Cycle regular. But that doesn't mean its all good. - Pros - *Location: Right in the Middle of Old Town, with big windows and couches to look out onto the world. * Cheap drip coffee: A dollar? * Bookstore included (non-profit and cool, but short on selection). * Quiet atmosphere, conducive to getting stuff done. - Cons - * The biggest con of all is that a few of the staff members give the whole place a bad vibe. Some of them are great and friendly (Dave, Claire, Elliot, por ejemplo), but there are a few who just refuse to smile - refuse even to restrain from making you feel like a waste of their time. * That quiet atmosphere can also be pretty boring. Not a place to go to meet people, either. * The coffee, while cheap, isn't anything to write home about. The Kerouac is awesome but over-priced.

The Bean Cycle is a great place to hang out, drink coffee and get a baked good, especially if you're vegan! They don't advertise the baked goods as vegan, but if you ask, about half of them are from Watercourse bakery and are therefore VEGAN!

Just came in here for the first time. The coffee is great, I ordered a macchiatto and it actually is one not the cracked out on sugar and milk version that they serve at a certain coffee chain, it is straight caffine just the way I like it. I have been searching for a coffee place to start frequenting and I think this might be the one!

I love this place!! Wish it were a bit warmer, but other than that, nice atmosphere, great selection of food, nice people, great coffee! I am so glad that Fort Collins has this coffee shop.

This is the most laid-back, locally-conscious coffee shop in Fort Collins, and that's saying something. It has some competition. For those who haven't been there, it's half 'The Matter Bookstore', a non-profit used/new bookstore for a local publisher (Wolverine Farms), and half the Bean Cycle - the front end for a local coffee roaster. It also seems to be a gathering point for local conservationist efforts - this would be the place to ask about green building, saving the Poudre, or other causes. It's usually fairly busy with people studying or just hanging out. The help is always really friendly and generally lets you stay past 10 while they close up. There's no air-conditioning, which is only a problem in the summer up on the second floor. It can get rather stuffy.
